Dr. Bers

Dr. Gerald Bers, 1947-2004 Dr. Bers' impressive dental career, began after graduation from Baltimore College of Dental Surgery Dental School in Baltimore, Maryland in 1973. During that year, he was the staff dentist on a mobile dental bus in Baltimore, as well as a migrant clinic in Colorado.

In 1975, while an instructor at the School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Bers received his Masters of Public Health. He enjoyed the opportunity to work in higher education at the University of Maryland, dental clinic, as well as the University of Okalahoma, College of Dentistry and the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. Dr. Bers was responsible for many publications relating to the practice of dentistry. These publications appeared in several dental journals in 1980-1981.

Since 1983, Dr. Bers had been a partner, then owner, of Northern Catskill Dental Associates in Cooperstown. He certainly enjoyed his practice, treating all patients with the utmost care and concern. He also found time to be the dentist on staff at the Meadows Nursing Home, Bassett and Foxcare Hospitals, and worked closely with the Otsego County Headstart Program. NCDA was the first dental practice in Otsego County to participate in Give Kids A Smile. This annual program is designed to treat children without insurance coverage, but need dental care. We will continue to provide this service, just as Dr. Bers would have wanted. Dr. Bers, you are missed so much by your wife, staff, patients and community.
